I'm pleased to tell you that I have work in two lovely forthcoming exhibitions - one in Woodbridge and one in St.Ives, Cambridgeshire.
The Ipswich Art Society "Small Works" exhibition starts this Friday at 10am in Woodbridge at the Artspace Gallery. The Gallery can be found in The Thoroughfare which is the main high street in Woodbridge. It is a lovely town that sits on the River Deben, and has a lovely relaxed atmosphere, so if you're in the area, do pop in.
I will have two acrylic on cradled board paintings on the wall and three mounted acrylic on paper works in the browser.
"All Wrapped Up" exhibition at the VK Gallery
This show at the VK Gallery in St.Ives, Cambridgeshire starts on Friday 1st November.
This will be my first time showing my work at this gallery and I'm excited to be asked to put my three winter themed acrylic on cradled wood board works in the exhibition. The gallery promises to be filled with lovely creations for you to browse including art, ceramics, jewellery, glass and textiles. St Ives is a nice market town that sits on the river Great Ouse and is well worth a visit. It is just 12 miles north west of Cambridge. If you are out Christmas shopping, please do pop into the gallery.
In other news I am working on some new paintings in the studio. One of which is taking inspiration from a photo by Andy Doughty on Instagram. He takes a lot of photos of trees and woodland. In one of the photographs he was taking a bird flew up and it was captured in the shot. It really inspired me so I asked if I could use it. He kindly gave me permission and I am really enjoying interpreting it. Here is the original photo and my work in progress on the easel at the moment. I believe the bird is a great spotted woodpecker.
I am also working on a commission, but of course I can't share that with you at the moment. But I do take commissions and it is always worth contacting me to see if I can help with your request. Taking on a personal painting is something that I enjoy. I can paint from photographs, but if you are in Suffolk and the commission requires a visit then we can arrange that. In the past I have taken my camera to the scenery requested for a painting. I can then paint from that or put a scene together that has the relevant places or objects in it. Whatever your idea is, it starts with a conversation where we can discuss requirements and I can show you examples of my work to help build a picture of something you will love.
Please note that I very occasionally paint pet portraits, but on the whole I will refer you to a fabulous artist friend of mine Laura Beardsell-Moore.
I will be back with more news soon.
Meanwhile enjoy the gorgeous colours of autumn and the warmth of the sunshine when possible.
